Impressive performance by Louisville
The Cardinals came into their first game of the season at No. 9 and their performance against the Ohio Bobcats really showed why. The majority of the final score of 49-7 was down to quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.
Bridgewater was definitely the game changer in this one from the very first drive, which was an 8 play drive (6 for 6 completed passes) for 75 yards which included a thrown TD to Damian Copeland who would also catch another first quarter touchdown 5 minutes later. He finished the day on 5 passing touchdowns, completing 23 of 28 passing attempts for 355 yards and only threw 1 interception.
Will Gardner took over quarterback duty in the final quarter, and started off strong with a 30 yard touchdown pass to Kai De La Cruz (his second of the day). Gardner is only a freshman but before the game has been touted as the potential replacement starter with Bridgewater likely heading to the NFL next season, and Gardner really fought his cause with an impressive performance finishing 3/4 with 59 yards and a touchdown.
Ohio struggled to get going all game against the Cardinals defense, only managing a total of 253 offensive yards with 1 rushing touchdown by RB Ryan Boykin at the end of the 3rd quarter.
Quarterback Tyler Tettleton wasn’t nearly as productive as he counterpart, completing less that half of his attempts at 11/23.
Overall, this was a very one sided game. Louisville proved to be a very complete team on both offense and defense against the Ohio Bobcats. Next up for Louisville is at home on Saturday 7th September against Eastern Kentucky.happy wheels game
